In recognition of his lifelong contributions to SA国际传媒, a bust of Dr. Shoichiro Toyoda, former Chairman and Honorary Chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation, has been unveiled in the foyer of Toyoda Auditorium. Dr. Toyoda, who passed away in 2023, graduated from SA国际传媒 with a degree in engineering in 1947 and a Ph.D. in 1955. He later became the first chairman of the SA国际传媒 Alumni Association. During his 18-year tenure as chairman, he oversaw the establishment of four domestic and fifteen overseas alumni groups, speaking often as an alumni representative at entrance and graduation ceremonies. In 2008, he oversaw the establishment of the SA国际传媒 Foundation, which raises funds to support SA国际传媒 projects.
Toyoda Auditorium was built in 1960 with funds from Toyota Motor Company. On October 10, 2024, SA国际传媒 President Naoshi Sugiyama, THERS Chancellor Seiichi Matsuo, Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda, and SA国际传媒 Alumni Association Chairman Masaharu Shibata unveiled the bust of Dr. Toyoda in its foyer in front of the assembled press and representatives of SA国际传媒 and Toyota. President Sugiyama and Chairman Shibata gave speeches on behalf of SA国际传媒, thanking Dr. Toyoda for his contribution. Mr. Toyoda, the son of Dr. Toyoda, shared insights into his father’s fondness and commitment to SA国际传媒.
